An outline of what it takes to make your dream of becoming a pilot into reality by giving you the costing of the program.
The cost of pilot training depends on which flight school you choose to train with and what type of training you want to do with that institute. No matter how intelligent and potential the candidate has the majority of the flying schools will require the student to pay the cost of the training. We are broadly able to categorize the two main type of flight training in the flight schools. They are integrated flight training and modular flight training.
The integrated flight training program generally refers to a full time commercial flight training course where all the licenses and certificates involved is completed with the same flight training school or organisation. The integrated training is generally high quality and intensive training program. Generally a few flying hours are required to obtain a Commercial Pilot License over here. A full time integrated course may usually take 14-15months. However it totally depends on the weather conditions of the where the flying school is situated and also depends on the satisfactory students progress report at each stage. Pilot training is not like your graduation or any other academic course that will be completed in a fixed time frame. It is a skill based course everyone learns at a different pace.
On the other hand there is modular flight training program. This program tends to be a little cheaper for the aspiring pilots as in this program you can complete different licenses one step at a time. As this is a well known fact that there are many licenses to be acquired by a pilot to start his job practically that is Private Pilot License (PPL), Instrument rating License ,multi -engine rating, ATPL(Airline Transport Pilot License) and Commercial pilot License (CPL).Let us say on an average PPL would cost you 8-10 lakhs in an average flying school and you could do hobby flying after completing this license.
Pilot training cost totally depends on the type of pilot training that you intend to take. Now when it comes to different flying schools in different countries, we have seen that some South african countries provide cheapest pilot training courses raning between 22-25 lakhs . The Philippines provides the pilot license for about 20-25 lakhs. Australian academies offer a range of good flying schools that provide training for about 45-50 lakhs. Also the cost of pilot training in USA, South-east Asia and many more countries are considered to be slightly less expensive than India, and hence many aspiring pilots prefer to go to abroad for their training. In addition to this even the training period in foreign academies of USA is six to seven months which much less when compared to India. In India, it approximately takes 3 years for the integrated course.
Moreover in India most of the academies do not offer multi engine aircraft training which always adds up to the cost because this training is necessary for entering into any premier airline company. Plus the standard of training is much better abroad when compared to India and there training techniques are more modern. Apart from completing their training one has to do Type rating training which will additional cost around 10-12 lakhs if done fromaboad as in India it is expensive.
